Police in Vryburg apprehended Tumelo Gompe, 44, Tshepiso Mangate, 43, Rasake Matsapa, 33 and Sefatsa Ramokoni, 28, in connection with the possession of illegal firearms, ammunition and for conspiracy to murder on Monday night, 08 December 2025.
When asked about the illegal firearms that they are carrying, Gompe, Mangate, Matsapa and Ramokoni failed to provide a proper explanation or valid ownership of the firearms and were immediately arrested for possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, says North West police spokesperson, Constable Thuto Bobelo.
This comes after police received information about a suspicious White Ford Ranger with unknown occupants, allegedly on its way to commit a murder in Ganyesa.
“Vehicle patrols from Tactical Response Team (TRT), Public Order Policing (POP) and Visible Policing (VISPOL) commenced within the area to track down the suspects. The suspicious vehicle was spotted at a nearby Garage. Upon searching the vehicle in Market street, two firearms (pistols) were found with several rounds of ammunition, hidden in a bag inside the vehicle,” said Bobelo.
The suspects appeared before the Vryburg District Court on Wednesday, 10 December 2025. They will be remanded in custody until their next appearance before the same court on Monday, 15 December 2025.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo, congratulated the team for their vigilance that led to this success.
He said the police will remain committed in keeping the inhabitants of North West safe and the removal of illegal firearms from the streets, will indeed prevent future crimes.
