“Upon arrival at the scene, police found the body of a 46-year-old man, later identified as Sello Molefi, a councillor at Matlosana Municipality, lying on the ground with a stab wound to the neck. Emergency medical personnel were summoned and subsequently certified the victim dead at the scene.”

The Council Speaker in the municipality, councillor Mondlane-Ngwenya sent her condolences to the family, community, and his political associates.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Cllr Sello and extend our heartfelt sympathy to his loved ones. We call on law enforcement to strengthen their efforts in fighting crime and violence within our communities. This violent crime takes place just a day after two young men from Khuma lost their lives shortly after delivering their memorandum of demands to the Speaker on behalf of the municipality. Our communities are not safe and we need the rule of law to reign supreme” said Cllr Mondlane-Ngwenya.
Further details about the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.
