The High Court of South Africa, Gauteng Division in Johannesburg has postponed the matter
against businessman Katiso Molefe, 61, to 12 March 2026, to allow for the disclosure of the
contents of the docket and for pre-trial proceedings.
Molefe and his co-accused, Michael Pule Tau, 55, Tiego Floyd Mabisela, 45, and Musa
Kekana, are facing 35 charges, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful
possession of firearms and ammunition.
While appearing for the first time in the High Court, the 61-year-old is accused of accused of
orchestrating the murder of Oupa Sefoka aka DJ Sumbody together with his co-accused.
DJ Sumbody was murdered on 20 November 2022 in a hail of bullets in Woodmead,
Johannesburg.
The attack, which was described as a targeted hit, also claimed the life of one of his bodyguards,
while another was injured.
According to the State, forensic evidence allegedly links the high-calibre rifles used in DJ
Sumbody’s murder to several other high-profile killings, including those of Hector Buthelezi
(DJ Vintos), Don Tindleni and Armand Swart, as well as other incidents connected to a broader
organised crime network.
Molefe was granted R400,000 bail, two and three remain in custody, until the next court
appearance.
“The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) reiterates its unwavering commitment to a
thorough prosecution and to ensuring that justice is served,” said NPA spokesperson Magaboke
Mohlatlole.
