UAT delivers Khuma home and pledges radical job campaign

In a powerful display of grassroots accountability, the United Africans Transformation (UAT) officially handed over a brand-new house to elderly resident Augustina Mpiti on Sunday, 18 October 2026, while boldly pledging to make local job creation its absolute priority at the ballot box.

The life-changing housing project was spearheaded by UAT Ward 35 Councillor Candidate Poloko Sekgweleo.

Sekgweleo stepped in to build the home after witnessing Mpiti enduring unbearable conditions in Ward 38, where she faced a prolonged lack of decent shelter and had no access to electricity.

The handover ceremony blossomed into a major community celebration, drawing large crowds from both Ward 35 and Ward 38. Residents gathered in numbers to cheer and dance, celebrating the tangible relief brought to one of their most vulnerable community members.

An emotional Mpiti expressed her deep gratitude to the UAT and Sekgweleo for restoring her dignity and providing her with a safe, secure home.

“Kajeno, le nna ke motho, ke tswana le batho ba bang. Ke lebohile haholo ho ntate Poloko le UAT [Today, I am just like any other person. I am very grateful to Mr. Poloko and UAT],” said Mpiti.

This newly built home marks a significant milestone for the party’s regional outreach. It is one of five houses donated by the UAT across the Dr Kenneth Kaunda region in the North West province, highlighting the party’s growing momentum ahead of the highly anticipated local government elections.

Using the momentum of the handover, Sekgweleo and the UAT made a firm commitment to the residents of Khuma, promising that combating local unemployment and creating sustainable jobs will be top priorities if given a mandate by voters.

Addressing the crowd, Sekgweleo highlighted that job scarcity has paralyzed local youth and left families vulnerable across the City of Matlosana Local Municipality.

Under a UAT-led ward leadership, the party promises to cut municipal red tape for small enterprises and community cooperatives, prioritize localized procurement to keep wealth within the township and ensure infrastructure projects directly employ residents from within Khuma.

Built on pan-Africanist and socialist values, the UAT is positioning itself as a practical alternative focused on radical economic and community-driven transformation. The party has deliberately sought to separate itself from traditional political organizations by funding grassroots initiatives like Mpiti’s home entirely without government money.

“We are not talkers; our leadership is measured by action, not empty slogans,” Sekgweleo stated. “If the voters of Ward 35 give us the opportunity, our first step is to open doors for local employment and clean up local governance so that resources benefit the workers of Khuma.”

As political campaigns intensify, economic empowerment, road maintenance, and basic service delivery are set to take center stage for local voters. Residents are urged to follow official updates on the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) portal for local polling arrangements.
