MOOIDRAAI FARM — His Royal Majesty King Tibisi April Motaung II has expressed profound sadness on Thursday, 23 July 2026, following the untimely passing of His Majesty King Letsitsa Moloi III of Harrismith.
In an official statement released on behalf of the Mooidraai Farm Royal Community and Authority, King Motaung II extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Royal Family, the House of Kingdoms, and the people of the Thabo Mofutsanyane District.
The two traditional leaders shared a deep, historical bond rooted in solidarity and community activism. King Motaung II fondly recalled their shared struggle during the land occupations of August 2019.
During this period of intense determination, King Motaung II led the Mooidraai Farm community, while King Letsitsa III courageously led his people in occupying land adjacent to the N3 highway in Harrismith.
“King Letsitsa Moloi III will be remembered as a remarkably great, brave, and visionary Sovereign of our generation,” the statement read, praising his unwavering commitment to his people and his indelible impact on the traditional landscape.
In a poignant revelation, the Royal Authority shared that prior to his passing, King Letsitsa III had been planning a surprise fraternal visit to King Motaung II.
The meeting was intended to align and prepare the two traditional leadership structures for the historic Coronation scheduled to take place next month on 8 August 2026. Instead, the Mooidraai Farm community now joins the nation in mourning a widely respected leader.
“While we grieve that this meeting will no longer take place in the physical realm, his royal bravery and guiding spirit will undoubtedly present itself during the upcoming ceremonies and live on forever.”
