A sudden fire incident discovered at Tiragalo Secondary School early this morning has forced school management to abruptly change the venue for today’s historic Grade 12 pledge signing ceremony.
In an urgent notice issued on Friday, 09 October 2026 to parents and matrics, the school confirmed that the ceremony will now take place at the Thakadu Secondary School instead of the school premises.
Earlier on the school announced the local Roman Church as the chosen venue before they announced the second venue.
The official statement from the school reads:
“Please be informed that, following the fire incident discovered at our school this morning, the Grade 12 pledge signing ceremony will take place at the Roman Church instead of the school premises. All Grade 12 learners and parents are requested to take note of the change of venue and make the necessary arrangements to attend. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you.”
Details regarding the extent of the fire damage or the cause of the blaze remain unclear at this stage. Emergency services and school officials are currently on-site assessing the situation.
“Please be informed that the Grade 12 pledge signing ceremony will now take place at Thakadu Primary School instead of the previously announced venue.
“Kindly take note of the change and ensure that you proceed to the correct venue.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding,” said the school in statement.
Despite the disruption, school leadership is prioritizing the safety of the learners and ensuring that this crucial academic milestone proceeds without delay. Parents and matriculants are urged to head directly to the Roman Church and adjust their travel arrangements accordingly.
