Matlosana Melodies and NWU Serenaders took top honours during the North West regional eliminations of the Tiro Mpane Foundation National Choral Eisteddfod that was held on Saturday, 9 August 2025 at Auditorium Hall, City of Matlosana Local Municipality.
Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom choirs have struck the right notes and are making names for themselves by leading Standard Category and Large Standard.
Not only were the choirs loved by the audience of Matlosana, but they also secured first places categories.
According to Tiro Mpane, president of the foundation, the regional winners and choirs came prepared and demonstrated they have been practicing for the competition.
“They have done their home-work.”
Mpane applauded the his team, the City of Matlosana MMC for Sports, Arts and Culture Mojalefa Mosupa, Mercy Phetla Foundation representative and the municipal chief financial officer (CFO) Mercy Phetla and other stakeholders, for their commendable work and for working effectively as a team, valuing each member’s contributions, and fostering a positive and inclusive environment. He also thanked the ANCWL in the region for spending their National Women’s Day at the choral music event.
