Lekgethwane appointed as North West Media Awards spokesperson

The North West Media Awards has announced the appointment of a seasoned Communications Manager Berlina Lekgethwane as official spokesperson of the Awards on Thursday, 02 October 2025.

“The North West Media Awards, run under the Non-Profit Company Compassion Awards Foundation Investments (CAFI), is proud to announce the appointment of Ms Berlina Lekgethwane as the official spokesperson of the Awards.”

Lekgethwane has been serving in government media relations, corporate communications, and marketing for over 15 years. She holds a BA and Honours in Communications from North-West University, as well as a Master’s in Public Administration from Mancosa.

“I am humbled. And willing to give my best as this is part of community development,” said Lekgethwane.

A passionate advocate for women and youth empowerment, Lekgethwane is the founder and CEO of Perfect Thrive Modelling Agency and the Berlina Lekgethwane Foundation.

She is a former Mrs South Africa 2023 finalist, recognised nationally for her leadership and community development work.

“Importantly, Ms Lekgethwane also serves as a Board Member of the North West Media Awards, further strengthening her role in driving the vision and mission of the Awards. In her capacity as Board Member and official spokesperson, she will be responsible for communication services, official media interviews, developing and executing communication strategies, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement.”

Since 2021, the awards continues to celebrate the best in journalism, photography, broadcasting, and digital storytelling across the province.

Veteran journalist and founder of the awards, Ananias Ndlovu said the awards are a platform for recognition, collaboration, and raising the standard of media in the North West.

“Leading with vision, empowering with heart” – this principle guides Lekgethwane as she takes on the responsibility of amplifying the Awards’ mission of recognising excellence and passion in media across the province.
