Matlosana collaborates to empower SMMEs

The City of Matlosana Local Municipality in partnership with the Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) and Nalthorah Service providers empowered small-scale businesses.

At least 50 participants completed training and received certificates of competence. 25 informal traders received start-up stock worth R3,000, while formal traders got stock valued at R5,000.
According to the municipal spokesperson Ntswaki Makgetha, the programme aimed to equip informal and formal businesses (SMMEs) with basic retail business practices and provide stock grants.

Amongst those who have attended the event was the Executive Mayor, Cllr. Fikile Mahlophe and the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Local Economic Development, Cllr. Wesley Kgang.
Malophe emphasized the importance of adherence to municipal by-laws as a cornerstone for the sustainability of businesses.

“The initiative reflects the City of Matlosana’s commitment to empowering traders, supporting livelihoods, and strengthening local economic development.”
