BREAKING NEWS | ANC PEC special meeting postpones REC Dr Kenneth Kaunda regional induction

The special meeting of the African National Congress (ANC) provincial executive committee (PEC) in the North West has postponed the ANC Dr Kenneth Kaunda regional induction and workshop, and is expected to take place on Monday, 25 May 2026.

Members of the ANC regional executive committee (REC) were expected to have their induction and workshop on Sunday, 24 May 2026 and Monday, 25 May 2026 at the White House Guest House in Klerksdorp.

The first day went well with a successful session that focused on the ongoing political education, organisational renewal, including discussions about repositioning of the party in the region.

The sessions were led by the PEC member and Head of Political Education Subcommittee, Mpho Khunou, who covered ideological grounding, organisational renewal, and the core responsibilities of committee members as outlined in the party Constitution.

Speaking to City Report, the party regional chairperson Gaba Thithiba ka Qhele and regional secretary Pat Mthoa pronounced the session as a success and indicated that it has enhanced collective capacity and discussed the movement’s broader renewal agenda, to address regional economic challenges and service delivery.

Meanwhile, the special PEC meeting is expected amongst other topics to discuss election plans, campaign readiness and selection process for mayoral candidates ahead of the local government elections.
