Donga Enterprise and Gopolalesedi Training celebrates skills milestone

KHUMA — A powerful new partnership is set to transform the lives of local youth following the successful implementation of a community development project at Kediemetse Community Center in Khuma on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

Local business Donga Enterprise has officially joined forces with Gopolalesedi Training to tackle unemployment through targeted skills development.

The initiative culminated in a celebratory graduation ceremony, marking a major milestone for the community’s young people.

Speaking at the event, Quinton Tlhomelang of Donga Enterprise expressed deep gratitude to Gopolalesedi Training for their collaboration. He highlighted the critical role that local businesses play in uplifting the next generation.

“We are truly excited about this partnership because we believe it has the potential to change the lives of many young people in Khuma and the surrounding communities,” Tlhomelang stated.

The project focuses on equipping young residents with practical knowledge to improve their job prospects.

Tlhomelang emphasized that education and training remain the most effective weapons against youth unemployment.

“Skills development is one of the most powerful tools we can provide to empower our youth, improve employability, and create opportunities for a brighter future,” he noted.

The highlight of the day was the presentation of certificates to the local participants who successfully completed the training.

Addressing the graduates directly, Tlhomelang urged them to use this achievement as a stepping stone.

“I encourage you to accept them with humility and pride,” Tlhomelang said. “Remember, this certificate is not the destination—it is the beginning of a journey. Let it serve as a foundation upon which you will build a better future for yourselves, your families, and your communities.”

Gopolang Huna, Director of Gopolalesedi Trainings, welcomed participants and thanked Donga Enterprise for funding community skills development, urging learners to stay committed to their studies.

This qualification is a stepping stone towards greater opportunities. The knowledge and skills you gain today can open doors to employment, entrepreneurship, and community service. Stay focused, work hard, and make the most of this opportunity,” Huna told the learners.

Kelebogile Kekana, a dedicated participant in the empowerment programme, shared her deep gratitude for the practical emergency training provided.

For Kekana, the skills learned during the sessions are not just professional assets, but crucial tools for safeguarding her household.

“I live with my grandmother, and this training gives me confidence that I will be able to assist her should she ever need emergency help,” Kekana stated.

The success of this initiative sends a strong message about the impact of public-private collaborations in driving grassroots economic growth.

Moabi Ratladi, known as “The Challenger” and a participant in the recent Facilitator Course, delivered an inspiring vote of thanks stressing that certificates bring hope, opportunity, and community impact, while calling on public and private sectors to fund youth skills programs.

“We would like to encourage other companies, organisations, government departments,  and potential funders to support partnerships like this one. By investing in skills development, they will be helping to empower young people, reduce unemployment, and create lasting change in our communities,” said Ratladi.
