The South African Police Service (SAPS) National Office implemented its National Integrated Crime and Violence Prevention Strategy (ICVPS) roll-out session at the Portuguese Hall in Klerksdorp on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, to strengthen law enforcement operations across the North West Province.
Driven by the SAPS National Office: Organisational Development and Strategic Management component, the high-level session serves as a deliberate strategic intervention. It is designed to identify operational risks and recalibrate how crime prevention is executed across all levels of policing.
Police spokesperson, Captain Majang Skalkie confirmed the workshop brought together key law enforcement personnel from 30 identified priority police stations spanning the entire North West Province.
Facilitated by Brigadier Sandra Pillay, the event focuses on four core internal objectives, including deepening station-level knowledge of the ICVPS Action Plan with province. Streamlining communication and documentation channels, ensuring clear performance indicators for all participating commands and building cohesive workflows between local stations and national structures were part of the objectives.
The primary focus remains on giving local station leadership concrete direction regarding their everyday action plans. By defining precise roles, responsibilities, and key performance indicators, the SAPS aims to clear up previous execution roadblocks.
Additionally, the gathering serves as a collaborative platform. Representatives can flag localized deployment challenges, build risk mitigation plans, and tighten coordination across SAPS divisions, provincial leadership, and individual stations. This consolidated approach ensures that the entire province utilizes a unified, efficient front against crime and local violence.
“Participants are also being equipped with practical guidance on the implementation framework, performance monitoring, governance processes and integrated planning required to effectively operationalise the strategy.
“The session encourages collaboration and accountability while ensuring that the objectives of the ICVPS are incorporated into operational planning and day-to-day policing,” said Skalkie.
