Tanzanian accompanied by 6-year-old girl arrested for trafficking

A Tanzanian national, Vitalis Razaro Kisinga has appeared in the Zeerust Magistrates’ Court
on Tuesday, 03 February 2026.

Kisinga, who was allegedly accompanied by a six-year-old girl, is facing charges of trafficking
in persons.

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), on 01 February 2026, a Border
Management Authority (BMA) official was on duty at the Kopfontein Border Post in Zeerust
when Kisinga allegedly produced an emergency travel document to process his departure from
the country.

After arresting and charging the 32-year-old with trafficking in persons, and the child has since
been placed in a place of safety.

“Kisinga was allegedly accompanied by a six-year-old girl, whom he claimed to be his
daughter.

“It is reported that the child’s passport contained her details, but the photograph was that of a
grown woman, whom Kisinga claimed to be the child’s mother.”

Kisinga appeared in court and was remanded in custody.

His matter was postponed to 09 February 2026 for further investigation.

Meanwhile, the police in the North West province secured 889 arrests throughout the period of 26
January to 02 February 2026.

As part of reducing crime in the province, police arrested 21 suspects in connection with the
contravention of the Immigration Act, 8 suspects for illicit mining, 130 for assault with the intention
to do grievous bodily harm (GBH), 94 for common assault, 32 for dealing in liquor, 164 for
possession of drugs, 27 for housebreaking and 27 for driving under the influence of liquor.

“In addition, detectives notably arrested 492 suspects during tracing operations including 51 arrests
for rape. Furthermore, 41 licensed liquor premises and 51 second hand goods dealers were
inspected. These Joint law enforcement compliance inspections ensure alignment and conformity
with the Liquor Act as the Second-Hand Goods Acts.
Some of the recovered items include tablets, laptops, chargers, calculators, and computer monitors.

“On Wednesday, 28 January 2026, information received were operationalized by Brits Crime
Intelligence, Hartbeespoort dam Crime Prevention Unit and Hartbeespoort dam K9 and Brits
Operational Command Centre (OCC).”

The team proceeded to two identified houses in Majakaneng where two suspects were found in
possession of suspected stolen property. Thabo Mosako (54) and Buti Thomas Sibanda (51) were
arrested and various items including a leather horse saddle, solar lights, solar panels and sensor
cameras to an estimated value of more than R200 000.00 were seized.

Linkages to cases of housebreaking are eminent. Both suspects appeared before the Brits
Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 30 January 2026, and Buti Sibanda (51) was released on bail, while
on the contrary, Thabo Mosako (54) was remanded in custody until their next court appearance on
Monday, 30 March 2026.
