KLERKSDORP — At least 17 people have been injured following a serious collision involving a truck on the N12 highway just before the Orkney Bridge on Saturday, 25 July 2026.
Emergency services, including ER24, rushed to the scene after reports emerged of a mass casualty incident. According to initial reports, the truck was transporting multiple passengers in the back when the accident occurred.
First responders found a chaotic scene with numerous patients requiring urgent medical attention. Rescue technicians had to use specialized equipment to extricate one person who became trapped inside the wreckage of the truck.
The majority of the injured victims have been stabilized on-scene and are currently being transported by a fleet of ambulances to the Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital complex for further emergency care.
The cause of the accident is not yet known. Local authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, and motorists are advised to expect traffic delays on the N12 near the Orkney Bridge turn-off.
