JB Marks announces scheduled water shutdown for pipeline connections

JB Marks Local Municipality will shut off the water supply on Thursday, August 27, 2026, starting at 07:00 in the morning for essential pipeline connections.

The shutdown allows teams to connect new 450mm and 350mm diameter pipelines between Sooliman Street and Sonderwater. Workers must isolate the 450mm pipeline in Sonderwater during this process.

This action stops the water flow to the Sonderwater and Eersterantjies reservoirs while the infrastructure work takes place.

Residents in several specific areas will experience a water interruption. The affected locations include Sonderwater, Zakhele, and Ikageng Extensions 7, 11, and 13.

Water supply will return as soon as the work is finished. However, the municipal system needs time to refill and build pressure before normal water flow resumes everywhere.

The municipal spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, urges all affected residents to store enough water in advance for their essential needs.

The municipality apologizes for the temporary inconvenience and thanks the community for understanding during this important upgrade work.
