North West Premier reshuffles provincial administration

The North West Premier Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi announced changes in the provincial administration with the redeployment of Obakeng Eden Mongale, SuperintendentGeneral of the Department of Health, to the Office of the Premier to coordinate the provincial segment of the National Dialogue, on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
 
“Mr. Mothupi Mokhatla who has been the Head of Department ofAgriculture and Rural Development will now take over the reigns at the Department of Health whilst Ms. Kenalemang Bodigelo-Nyezi will hold the fort in an acting capacity.
 
“Premier Mokgosi maintains, these changes are aimed to bolster administrative stability, efficiency and provision of services in the province,” said Spokesperson to the Premier, Sello Tatai.

The changes comes after a Special Extended Departmental Executive Management (DEC) meeting, where Mokgosi was exercising his executive powers and implementing leadership changes within both the Department of Health and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The new Acting Superintendent-General (Head of Department) for Health, Mokhatla has been officially introduced to the department by the MEC for Health, Sello Lehari on Tuesday.

Mokhatla joined the health department after serving as Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development for over four and a half years.

Mokhatla is expected lead the Department of Health in an acting capacity until the end of his term in April next year.

“We embrace the changes effected by the Premier and warmly welcome Mr. Mokhatla to the Department. We wish him well in his new responsibilities and assure him of our full support as we continue to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of the North West,” said Lehari.

Lehari extended his gratitude to the outgoing Superintendent-General, Mongale, who has led the Department for the past four and a half years.

Lehari thanked all departmental managers for their continued leadership, commitment, and strategic guidance in driving the Department’s mandate forward.
