Matlosana mayor boosts service delivery with brand new vehicle fleet injection

KLERKSDORP — In a major move to eliminate service backlogs and accelerate municipal response times, the Executive Mayor of the City of Matlosana, Fikile Mahlophe, officially handed over a brand-new service delivery fleet on Thursday, 06 August 2026.

The handover ceremony marks a critical capital investment aimed at providing reliable, timely, and quality municipal services to communities across the entire municipality.

According to Mahlophe, this new fleet directly targets existing service delivery gaps, ensuring that every community in Matlosana receives equitable and dependable care.

“The City believes these additions will improve response times and strengthen maintenance across all wards.”

The newly acquired municipal fleet and equipment include: high-pressure jetting truck, that is specially designed for clearing and unblocking sewer lines. This asset will drastically reduce response times to sewer emergencies, prevent hazardous spillages, and safeguard public health and the local environment. This includes two strategic water tankers to deploy alternative water supplies to informal settlements and areas experiencing intermittent supply. They will also provide relief during planned maintenance, sudden pipe bursts, and drought-led shortages.

Heavy-duty roll-back truck that will ensure municipal technical teams stay operational. It will safely transport non-roadworthy machinery and broken-down service vehicles back to workshops, heavily minimizing team downtime. Fully equipped technical toolboxes: Distributed directly to field teams to enable immediate, on-site repairs. Technical crews will no longer need to waste time driving back to the central depot for tools, streamlining fixes for water, electricity, and infrastructure faults.

This fleet rollout underlines the Matlosana’s strategic focus on proactive infrastructure maintenance rather than reactive crisis management. By equipping internal technical teams with specialized machinery and mobile tools, the municipality expects residents to see an immediate, visible improvement in daily turnaround times for service faults.
